Game Review
Inter Milan secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Udinese in their Serie A clash on Saturday, 17 January 2026. The match was decided by an early goal from Lautaro Martínez (GAP +4.5%), who found the net in the 20th minute. This result was largely anticipated, given Inter's superior form and league standing compared to Udinese. The game started with Inter Milan asserting their dominance, and it didn't take long for them to capitalize on their early pressure. Lautaro Martínez's goal came from a well-executed team move, showcasing Inter's attacking prowess. Despite Udinese's efforts to respond, they struggled to break down a resolute Inter defense. In terms of individual performances, Yann Sommer (GAP +5.7%) was instrumental in goal for Inter, ensuring that Udinese's attempts were thwarted. Federico Dimarco (GAP +4.6%) and Nicolo Barella (GAP +4.3%) also contributed significantly to Inter's control of the game, both defensively and in transition. Inter Milan's lineup saw several changes, with Davide Frattesi, Petar Sučić, Stefan de Vrij, Francesco Acerbi, and Ange-Yoan Bonny coming off the bench to make appearances. The away team's head coach opted for these substitutions to maintain the team's energy and tactical discipline throughout the match. For Udinese, the lack of cutting-edge in attack was evident, as players like Keinan Davis (GAP -1.6%) and Jurgen Ekkelenkamp (GAP -0.7%) struggled to make a significant impact. The home team manager made four substitutions, bringing in Nicolò Bertola, Vakoun Bayo, Lennon Miller, and Kingsley Ehizibue, but these changes did not alter the course of the game. This victory keeps Inter Milan in a strong position in the Serie A standings, bolstering their push for a top finish. Meanwhile, Udinese will need to regroup and address their offensive shortcomings to improve their league position in the coming weeks.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
